Description

Sweet Chili Chicken is a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken pieces coated in a sweet and spicy chili sauce, complemented by colorful vegetables. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, it combines savory, sweet, and tangy flavors with a hint of ginger and garlic, finished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and green onions.

Ingredients

Marinade and Chicken

1 pound chicken breast (cut into bite-sized pieces)
1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger

Vegetables and Garnish

1 bell pepper (sliced)
1 cup broccoli florets
Salt and pepper to taste
Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Green onions (sliced, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, combine sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Add the chicken pieces to the mixture, toss to coat evenly, and let marinate for 15 minutes to ensure the flavors penetrate the meat.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until it is browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add sliced bell pepper and broccoli florets, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender but still vibrant.
  4. Combine and Finish: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour any remaining marinade over the mixture. Cook everything together for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through and coated with the sauce.
  5. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot over rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sweet chili sauce according to your taste.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Serve over steamed rice or noodles to make it more filling.
