Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Mixture
- 4 cups cooked chicken, fully cooked and shredded
- 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
Topping
- 1 sleeve Ritz crackers, crushed
- 6 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare a casserole dish by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
- Mix Chicken and Seasonings: In a large bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken with the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Assemble Casserole: Pour the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared casserole dish, spreading it out evenly to form a uniform layer.
- Add Cracker Topping: Crush one sleeve of Ritz crackers and evenly sprinkle them over the top of the chicken mixture. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cracker topping to help it brown and crisp during baking.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly and hot throughout.
- Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm for a comforting meal.
Notes
- Fully cooked chicken works best for this recipe to save time and ensure even cooking.
- Adjust seasoning by adding more or less salt and pepper to taste.
- For a lower fat version, use reduced-fat sour cream and less butter for the topping.
- You can substitute cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom or celery for a different flavor.
- To crush Ritz crackers easily, place them in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin, or pulse briefly in a food processor.
