Description

Reese’s Owls are adorable, easy-to-make cupcake toppers perfect for adding a festive touch to your fall or Halloween parties. These no-bake decorations combine chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter cups, Oreo cookies, candy eyes, and sunflower seeds or candy corn to create charming owl faces that delight both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake

  • 1 chocolate cake mix + ingredients from back of box
  • 1 can chocolate frosting
  • Sprinkles

Owl Decorations

  • 24 Reese’s peanut butter cups
  • 48 mini Oreo cookies
  • 48 edible candy eyeballs
  • 24 orange chocolate covered sunflower seeds or mini candy corn
  • 1/4 cup chocolate melting wafers
  • 24 short lollipop sticks

Instructions

  1. Bake the Cupcakes: Prepare the cupcakes by following the package directions on the chocolate cake mix. Bake the cupcakes and allow them to cool completely before decorating.
  2. Frost and Sprinkle: Once the cupcakes are fully cooled, spread a generous layer of chocolate frosting on each one and top with sprinkles for a festive look.
  3. Melt the Chocolate: Place the chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Stir well until the chocolate is smooth and creamy, perfect for gluing the owl parts together.
  4. Prepare the Reese’s Cups: Using a sharp knife, carefully cut a small slit into the side of each Reese’s peanut butter cup. This slit will hold the lollipop stick.
  5. Insert Lollipop Sticks: Dip the end of a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate to help adhere it, then carefully insert it straight into the slit on the Reese’s cup. Be gentle to avoid breaking the cup.
  6. Assemble the Owl Eyes: Twist apart the mini Oreo cookies and use the half with the frosting. Dab a small amount of melted chocolate on the back of each candy eyeball with a toothpick and attach it to the Oreo halves to create the owl’s eyes.
  7. Attach Eyes to Reese’s Cup: Using more melted chocolate as glue, stick the Oreo halves with eyes onto the top side of each Reese’s peanut butter cup to form the owl’s face.
  8. Add the Beak: Dab a little melted chocolate on the back of each orange chocolate-covered sunflower seed or mini candy corn piece, then place it right below the owl’s eyes on the Reese’s cup to form the beak.
  9. Let Set and Top Cupcakes: Allow the assembled owl decorations to set so the chocolate hardens. Once firm, carefully place each owl onto the frosted cupcakes to finish your charming treats.

Notes

  • These Reese’s Owls are quick and simple to assemble using store-bought items, making them a fun no-bake craft.
  • The decorations add a cute seasonal touch, perfect for Halloween or autumn gatherings.
  • Be gentle when inserting lollipop sticks to avoid damaging the peanut butter cups.
  • Let all chocolate glue dry completely before handling the assembled owls to keep them intact.
