Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
Filling
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Frosting
- 1/2 cup whipped cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk, water, or cream
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the all purpose flour, baking powder, and kosher salt. Add the softened unsalted butter and brown sugar, mixing until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the pumpkin puree until a soft dough forms.
- Roll out the dough: Lightly flour a work surface and roll the dough into a rectangular shape about 1/4 inch thick.
- Add the filling: Mix the honey and ground cinnamon together and spread evenly over the rolled out dough.
- Roll and cut: Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 12 equal rolls.
- Bake: Place the rolls spaced slightly apart on a greased baking sheet or in a baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare the frosting: While the rolls bake, combine the whipped cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk (or water/cream), and vanilla extract in a bowl. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Frost and serve: Once the rolls are slightly cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top. Serve warm to enjoy the best flavor and texture.
