Description

These Nutella Spider Brownies are a fun and festive Halloween treat that combines the rich, fudgy flavor of Nutella brownies with spooky decorations made from Oreos, candy eyeballs, and black decorating gel. Perfectly moist and chocolaty, these brownies are easy to bake and then transformed into adorable spider-themed desserts, making them an ideal last-minute party or trick-or-treat treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cup Nutella
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted

Decorations

  • 8 Oreos, twisted apart
  • 36 candy eyeballs
  • Black decorating gel

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 325˚F (163°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make it easy to remove the brownies later.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the flour and salt, then set aside for later use.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate large bowl, beat together the Nutella, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Incorporate flour and butter: Gradually alternate adding the flour mixture and the melted butter into the Nutella mixture, blending after each addition until fully combined with a smooth batter consistency.
  5. Pour and bake: Pour the prepared batter into the lined baking pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs attached.
  6. Cool the brownies: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about one hour, ensuring they set properly for decorating.
  7. Cut and decorate: Once cooled, cut the brownies into 16 equal squares. Squeeze a small amount of black decorating gel onto each brownie piece and place one half of a twisted Oreo cookie over the gel. Attach candy eyeballs onto the Oreo half using the gel as glue, then use additional gel to pipe spider legs extending from the Oreo to create a spider effect. Repeat for all brownie squares.

Notes

  • These brownies are perfect for a fun Halloween dessert or party treat.
  • Use parchment paper to easily lift brownies out of the pan without breaking.
  • Make sure brownies are completely cooled before decorating to prevent melting or sliding of decorations.
  • Can store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
  • For a vegan or dairy-free version, substitute butter with plant-based alternatives and use vegan Oreos or similar cookies.
