Units Scale

Sauce:

  • 1 (28-ounce) can whole San Marzano tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 small garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Pizza:

  • Cornmeal, for stretching the dough
  • 1 pound Pizza Dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, torn or thinly sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Red pepper flakes, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F. In a food processor, blend the whole San Marzano tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and salt until smooth.
  2. Dust a baking sheet with cornmeal. Stretch the pizza dough on the baking sheet into a large oval shape.
  3. Spread the tomato sauce over the dough. Leave a border around the edges. Top with mozzarella and bake for 10-12 minutes until crust is browned.
  4. Remove from the oven and garnish with basil, red pepper flakes, and a drizzle of olive oil before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftover pizza sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
