Buttercream Frosting
- 2 cups unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp lime zest (approximately 1 to 2 limes)

- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
- Whip the Butter: Add room temperature unsalted butter to a large mixing bowl or stand mixer bowl fitted with a whisk or paddle attachment. Whip on medium-high speed for about 5 minutes, scraping down the sides occasionally, until the butter is light, fluffy, and pale in color.
- Add Powdered Sugar: Add half of the powdered sugar and mix on the lowest speed until fully combined. Then add the remaining powdered sugar and continue mixing on low speed until completely incorporated.
- Incorporate Lime and Salt: Add lime zest, freshly squeezed lime juice, and salt to the mixture. Mix on low speed until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Add Heavy Cream: Slowly drizzle the heavy cream into the frosting while mixing on low speed. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing.
- Finish Mixing: Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and whip the frosting for an additional 3 minutes until smooth, creamy, and spreadable.
