Ingredients
Scale
Chicken & Coating
- 1.5 pounds chicken breasts, chopped into bite-size pieces
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Sauce & Cooking
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 5-6 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce or sriracha
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with a paper towel. In a large bowl, combine the chicken with the corn starch, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well until all pieces are evenly coated.
- Cook the chicken: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large heavy-duty pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the chicken is cooked through and develops a golden sear.
- Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, olive oil, honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, and hot sauce or sriracha until well combined.
- Combine chicken and sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken in the pan. Continue cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky, coating the chicken pieces thoroughly. Cooking longer will result in a thicker, stickier sauce.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve the honey garlic chicken bites hot over rice, pasta, or with steamed or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Tender, juicy chicken bites coated in a flavorful sweet and spicy sauce make this dish an instant favorite.
- Ensure the chicken pieces are uniformly coated with corn starch for a crispy exterior.
- Adjust the amount of hot sauce or red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
- Serve immediately for the best texture; reheating may soften the crispy coating slightly.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with rice, pasta, or a side of fresh steamed vegetables.
