Description

Halloween Pretzel Treats featuring candy spiderwebs are a fun, festive snack perfect for parties and family activities. These sweet and salty treats combine crunchy pretzels with creamy vanilla white chocolate candy coating, decorated with colorful Halloween sprinkles and detailed spider designs made from melted chocolate chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Materials

  • Wax paper
  • Cookie sheets
  • Plastic bags for piping

Ingredients

  • About 8-inch diameter bowl (to trace circles)
  • Pretzel sticks (enough for 9 to 12 webs, approximately 8 per web)
  • 16 ounces vanilla or white chocolate candy coating
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare Base: Trace circles about 8 inches in diameter onto wax paper using a bowl, then cut out these circles and place them on cookie sheets. Arrange 8 pretzel sticks on each circle so that their ends meet in the center and radiate outward evenly.
  2. Melt Candy Coating: Melt the vanilla or white chocolate candy coating following package directions, being careful not to overheat. Stir until smooth to ensure good consistency.
  3. Pipe Web Pattern: Transfer the melted candy coating into a gallon-sized heavy-duty or freezer plastic bag. Snip a 1/4-inch hole in the corner of the bag. Pipe a flat circle of coating in the center where pretzels meet. Starting from the center and working outward, pipe a spiraling line across the pretzels to create a spiderweb pattern, stopping before the pretzel tips so they stick out slightly. Pipe over the outermost ring multiple times to build thickness for sprinkles to adhere to.
  4. Add Sprinkles: Pour Halloween sprinkles into a bowl and carefully spoon them over the thickened outer ring of the spiderweb to decorate.
  5. Melt Chocolate Chips: Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second increments, stirring between sessions until melted and smooth.
  6. Create Spider Decoration: Transfer melted chocolate to a small plastic baggie, snip a tiny hole in one corner, and draw a spider on each web. Start by drawing the spider legs as a plus sign (+) topped with an X to total 8 legs, then fill in a small circle for the spider’s body. Add two tiny sprinkles as the spider’s eyes on the body.
  7. Dry and Serve: Allow the spiderwebs to dry completely for several hours until fully set. Carefully peel the webs off the wax paper if possible without breaking, or serve them directly on the wax paper circles.

Notes

  • These candy spiderwebs combine sweet and salty elements, making them a delightful Halloween treat.
  • They are a fun, interactive project for kids and great for serving at parties.
  • Ensure not to overheat the candy coating to avoid it seizing or burning.
  • Be gentle when removing the spiderwebs from wax paper to prevent breakage.
  • You can reuse the plastic piping bags for any leftover melted coating or chocolate.
