Pipe tree shapes approximately 2 to 3 inches tall and thick enough to avoid breaking once hardened. Before the chocolate sets, decorate with chocolate and colored sprinkles to resemble leaves. Chill in the refrigerator until solid.
- Prepare Meringue Frosting: Using a double boiler, combine sugar, cold water, egg whites, and cream of tartar. Beat constantly with an electric mixer on high speed for 10 to 13 minutes, periodically scraping down the bowl to prevent sticking. Cook until the mixture reaches 160°F on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat, add vanilla extract, and continue beating for about one minute until the frosting is fluffy with soft to stiff peaks.
