This Garlic Shrimp Spaghetti recipe is a quick and flavorful Italian-inspired pasta dish featuring succulent shrimp sautéed in a rich garlic butter sauce, finished with a hint of lemon and topped with freshly grated Parmesan and parsley. Ingredients

Units Scale

Pasta

  • 8 ounces spaghetti

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2-3 tablespoons chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water for the sauce.
  2. Sauté Shrimp: Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, salt, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn opaque pink and are cooked through, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic. Cook over medium heat until fragrant, about 1 minute. Turn off the heat and stir in the lemon juice, reserved pasta water, and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.
  4. Toss Pasta in Sauce: Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce. Toss thoroughly to coat the pasta evenly.
  5. Serve: Place the sautéed shrimp on top of the pasta. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate. They will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
  • Substitutes: To make this dish gluten-free, substitute the spaghetti with your choice of gluten-free pasta.
  • For a creamier sauce, you can add a splash of milk in place of some of the reserved pasta water.
