Ingredients
Scale
For Chocolate Coating
- 6 ounces (170 g) white chocolate, chopped into small pieces or baking chips
- 6 ounces (170 g) chocolate (dark, milk, semi-sweet, or white), chopped into small pieces or baking chips
For Strawberries
- 12 medium to large strawberries, washed and completely dried
Decorations
- 24 candy eyeballs
- 12 chocolate chips or chocolate callets
- Halloween sprinkles
- Green sanding sugar sprinkles
- Orange sanding sugar or sparkling sugar sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: Wash the strawberries thoroughly and dry them completely with paper towels, ensuring no moisture remains for proper chocolate adhesion.
- Melt the Chocolate: Set aside a small handful of chocolate. Place the remaining chocolate in a heat-proof bowl and position it over a saucepan with about one inch of barely simmering water, making sure the bowl does not touch the water. Stir constantly until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the reserved chocolate pieces until completely melted and the mixture is glossy.
- Dip Strawberries: Hold a strawberry by the leafy top and dip it into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off. Gently scrape the bottom of the strawberry against the rim of the bowl to prevent drips. Place the dipped strawberry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Decorate: While the chocolate is still wet, add candy eyeballs, chocolate chips, and Halloween-themed sprinkles as desired to create spooky designs. Repeat with all strawberries.
- Set Chocolate: Allow the chocolate on the strawberries to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving to ensure firm, glossy coating.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to avoid chocolate seizing or sliding off.
- Use different types of chocolate and sprinkles to create a variety of spooky designs for more fun.
- Store finished strawberries in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days for best freshness.
- This recipe is perfect for making ahead of time for Halloween parties or as a cute treat for kids.
