Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package uncooked rotini pasta
Sauces and Liquids
- 1 (22 ounce) jar Alfredo sauce (or 1 ½ 15-ounce jars, approximately 2 ½ cups total)
- 3 cups chicken stock (or substitute with chicken broth)
Protein
- 2 cups diced or shredded rotisserie chicken (or other diced cooked chicken)
Flavorings
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic (about 2 large cloves)
Cheeses
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese or Italian cheese blend
- Optional garnish: Parmesan cheese
Herbs (Optional)
- Chopped fresh herbs, such as basil, oregano, or parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for baking the casserole evenly.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large baking dish, mix the uncooked rotini pasta, Alfredo sauce, chicken stock, shredded chicken, and minced garlic thoroughly to ensure even distribution of flavors.
- First Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes to cook the pasta partially and meld the flavors.
- Check and Stir: Remove the foil and stir the pasta well. Check the doneness of the pasta – it should be almost al dente but still firm and with some liquid remaining. If it’s still very hard, re-cover and bake for up to an additional 10 minutes until the pasta is al dente.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the pasta mixture.
- Final Bake: Bake uncovered for another 5-10 minutes until the cheese melts and the pasta reaches perfect al dente texture without becoming mushy.
- Garnish and Serve: Optionally, garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh herbs such as basil, oregano, or parsley before serving for added flavor and presentation.
Notes
- This dish requires only about 10 minutes of preparation, making it a quick and convenient meal.
- All ingredients cook together in one baking dish, minimizing cleanup.
- If pasta isn’t sufficiently cooked after the initial 30-minute bake, simply cover and bake longer in 5-10 minute increments until nearly al dente before adding cheese.
- Use rotisserie chicken for convenience, or substitute with any cooked diced chicken.
- Fresh herbs enhance flavor and appearance but are optional.
