Description

Enjoy a rich and flavorful Creamy Lemon Garlic Parmesan Shrimp that’s perfect for a quick and elegant dinner. Juicy shrimp cooked in a luscious buttery garlic sauce with fresh lemon zest, tangy parmesan, and a hint of Italian seasoning creates a luscious, creamy dish that pairs beautifully with pasta or crusty bread.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 pound shrimp (31-40 count size), thawed & peeled

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cool water if frozen and peel if necessary. Pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels. You may remove the tails if preferred for easier eating.
  2. Melt butter and create roux: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about one minute to form a light roux, which will help thicken the sauce.
  3. Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add lemon, cream, and seasoning: Pour in the lemon juice and zest, then add the heavy cream and sprinkle the Italian seasoning. Stir to combine and let the mixture simmer gently for about 2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  5. Cook the shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet. Cook for approximately 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn pink and opaque and the sauce thickens slightly. Adjust heat to prevent over-thickening or rapid bubbling.
  6. Finish with cheese and parsley: Stir in the freshly grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Remove the skillet from heat and mix well.
  7. Season and serve: Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. Serve immediately, ideally with pasta, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the creamy sauce.

Notes

  • This recipe comes together quickly, making it ideal for a busy weeknight meal.
  • The sauce is rich and creamy; pair the shrimp with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables for balance.
  • You can substitute shrimp size according to preference but adjust cooking times accordingly to avoid overcooking.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, though the sauce will be less rich.
