For the Drink
- 1 1/2 - 2 ounces blanco tequila, depending on desired strength of drink
- 2 ounces coconut cream (or cream of coconut)
- 1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 ounce Cointreau
- 1/2 ounce agave syrup or simple syrup
For Cocktail Garnish (optional)
- Sugar
- Kosher salt
- Grated lime zest
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- Prep the glass: On a small plate, combine equal parts sugar, kosher salt, and grated lime zest, spreading the mixture evenly. Run a lime wedge around the rim or side of your cocktail glass to moisten it. Hold the base of the glass and dip the rim or side into the mixture to coat it evenly. Place the glass into the freezer to chill until ready to serve.
- Make the cocktail: When ready to serve, fill the prepared cocktail glass with ice and set aside. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the blanco tequila, coconut cream, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, and agave or simple syrup. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds to blend and chill the ingredients thoroughly.
- Serve: Strain the mixed cocktail into the ice-filled prepared glass. Garnish with a lime wedge or slice on the rim or in the drink if desired. Enjoy the creamy, tropical flavors of your Coconut Lime Margarita!
Notes
- Mocktail option: Substitute non-alcoholic tequila such as Ritual Zero Proof and replace Cointreau with orange extract, orange juice, or orange-flavored sparkling water.
- For best results, read the full blog post and watch any accompanying video tutorials before making the cocktail.
- Adjust the tequila amount based on your preferred cocktail strength.
- Coconut cream adds the creamy texture, but cream of coconut works well too for added sweetness.
