  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 large egg yolks, beaten

Additional Layers:

  • 34 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped

Instructions

  1. Make the pudding: In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat. Gradually stir about 1 cup of hot mixture into egg yolks; return all to the pan. Bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the layers: In a serving dish, layer pudding, bananas, vanilla wafers, and whipped cream. Repeat layers. Refrigerate until serving.
