Description

These festive Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Breadsticks are a delightful holiday appetizer featuring layers of savory spinach dip sandwiched between pizza dough, twisted into beautiful tree shapes, and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for sharing at holiday parties, they combine creamy cheese, flavorful seasonings, and a buttery garlic topping for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Spinach Dip Filling

  • 12 oz frozen chopped spinach (thawed and squeezed dry)
  • 6 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

Dough and Topping

  • 1 tube refrigerated pizza crust (13.8 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the breadsticks.
  2. Prepare Spinach Dip Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the thawed, squeezed dry spinach with softened cream cheese. Add minced garlic, salt, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, Italian seasoning, grated parmesan, and mozzarella cheese. Beat the mixture until smooth and creamy.
  3. Shape Dough: Unroll the refrigerated pizza crust onto a sheet of parchment paper. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into one large tree-shaped triangle and two smaller triangles as shown in the recipe instructions. Transfer the two smaller triangles to a second piece of parchment paper, aligning their straight edges to form a second tree-shaped triangle identical to the first.
  4. Assemble Layers: Spread the prepared spinach dip evenly over the second triangle of dough. Then carefully flip the first triangle of dough on top, creating a sandwich with the spinach dip in the middle.
  5. Cut and Twist: Make cuts from near the center of the tree to the edges on both the left and right sides, spacing about an inch apart, while leaving about an inch intact in the center. Grab each strip created by the cuts and twist upwards—twisting halfway around near the top where slices are short, and two to three full twists near the bottom where the strips are longer.
  6. Bake: Place the shaped breadsticks in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown on top and cooked thoroughly on the bottom. Avoid undercooking to ensure the dough is fully baked.
  7. Prepare Butter Topping: While baking or immediately after, melt the butter and stir in garlic salt (or garlic powder) and Italian seasoning.
  8. Brush and Serve: Once baked, brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the breadsticks and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • These Christmas tree breadsticks make an ideal festive appetizer perfect for holiday parties and gatherings.
  • Ensure the spinach is well-drained to avoid soggy dough layers.
  • Twisting the strips tightly helps create a more defined and decorative Christmas tree shape.
  • Brush with garlic butter while warm for maximum flavor absorption.
  • For extra sparkle, sprinkle with a little extra parmesan before baking if desired.
