Description

Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate covered strawberries using melted chocolate and optional coatings like coconut, nuts, or sprinkles. Perfect for a quick, bite-sized dessert that’s both visually appealing and tasty.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil (or grapeseed oil, canola, peanut, or other neutral oil)

Fruit

  • 500g / 1 lb strawberries (~25 strawberries, depending on size)

Optional Coatings

  • Desiccated coconut
  • Crushed nuts
  • Sprinkles
  • Other coating of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tray: Line a tray with baking paper (parchment paper) to place the dipped strawberries on for setting.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Place chocolate chips in a microwave-proof bowl and microwave on high in 30-second bursts, stirring between bursts until smooth and fully melted.
  3. Dip Strawberries: Pick up each strawberry by its stem or by gathering the leaves to hold it securely, then dip it into the melted chocolate, rolling to coat most of the strawberry evenly.
  4. Add Coatings: If using desiccated coconut, crushed nuts, sprinkles, or any other coatings, dip the chocolate-covered strawberry into the coating immediately after dipping in chocolate and before it sets.
  5. Set Strawberries: Place the coated strawberries onto the prepared tray, then refrigerate for 30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm and set.
  6. Serve: Best served within 12 hours of making for optimal freshness and quality.

Notes

  • This recipe is quick and easy, making it perfect for fast preparation of decadent desserts.
  • The bite-sized strawberries make for a low-calorie treat.
  • Use neutral oils like vegetable, grapeseed, canola, or peanut for smooth chocolate melting.
  • Adjust the quantity of strawberries depending on size; approximately 25 strawberries equal 500g.
  • Refrigerate thoroughly to ensure the chocolate coating hardens properly.
