Description

Winter Wonderland Chocolate Dipped Oreos transform classic chocolate sandwich cookies into festive treats coated in rich dark or milk chocolate and decorated with white chocolate snow and evergreen sprinkles. Perfect for holiday celebrations or winter-themed parties, these elegant and easy-to-make cookies combine the creamy crunch of Oreos with beautifully detailed chocolate decorations for a magical winter scene.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookies

  • 1 package of chocolate sandwich cookies (approximately 26 cookies)

Chocolate Coating

  • 2-3 cups dark or milk melting chocolate (formulated for melting or tempered chocolate)
  • 1 cup white melting chocolate (formulated for melting or tempered chocolate)

Decorations

  • Evergreen tree sprinkles
  • Star sprinkles
  • Gold sparkle sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheets: Line a baking sheet that will fit in your refrigerator with wax paper. This will be used to place coated cookies for setting.
  2. Melt Dark/Milk Chocolate: Gently melt 2-3 cups of dark or milk melting chocolate in a heatproof bowl, either using a double boiler or microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently until smooth.
  3. Coat Cookies in Chocolate: Submerge each chocolate sandwich cookie fully into the melted dark/milk chocolate. Use a fork to lift the cookie out and gently tap to remove excess chocolate. Place the coated cookie on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process coating up to 6 cookies per batch to maintain a shiny finish as the chocolate remains melted and smooth.
  4. Set Chocolate: Transfer the baking sheet with coated cookies to the refrigerator for about 5-10 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is firm and completely set.
  5. Repeat Coating Batches: Continue coating the remaining cookies in batches, reheating the chocolate gently in the microwave at 50% power for 10-20 seconds if it cools and thickens between batches.
  6. Prepare White Chocolate Decoration: Line another baking sheet with wax paper. Melt 1 cup of white melting chocolate in a small bowl until smooth.
  7. Add Snow Covered Hills: Dip the bottom and/or sides of each chocolate-coated cookie into the melted white chocolate to create snow-covered hills. Place decorated cookies on the prepared baking sheet immediately.
  8. Apply Sprinkles: While the white chocolate is still wet, add evergreen tree sprinkles on top. Use a toothpick dipped in melted chocolate to attach a star sprinkle onto each tree by ‘gluing’ it to the cookie.
  9. Set White Chocolate: After decorating about 6 cookies, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for a few minutes until the white chocolate is firm.
  10. Optional Detail Touches: For extra snowy detail, dip a toothpick in melted white chocolate and add snowy accents to the evergreen sprinkles once the chocolate is firm.
  11. Storage: Store the completed cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, keeping them fresh and perfect for sharing.

Notes

  • Use chocolate specifically formulated for melting or tempered chocolate for a smooth, glossy finish that sets well at room temperature.
  • Work in small batches to maintain the chocolate’s fluidity for easier coating and shinier appearance.
  • Reheat melting chocolate carefully in short increments to avoid burning or seizing.
  • Decorate quickly after dipping in white chocolate to allow sprinkles to adhere properly before chocolate sets.
  • Store cookies at room temperature, not refrigerated long-term, to preserve texture and flavor.
