Ingredients

Units Scale

Fresh Blueberry Frosting Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Puree Blueberries: Place about 1 1/2 cups of fresh blueberries in a small food processor or blender and puree until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter until smooth and creamy. Add 1 cup of powdered sugar and beat again. Then add another cup of powdered sugar and mix to combine thoroughly.
  3. Add Blueberry Puree: Incorporate 1/2 cup of the blueberry puree into the butter and powdered sugar mixture and beat until smooth and creamy.
  4. Finish Frosting: Add the remaining powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture until the frosting is smooth, fluffy, and fully combined.
  5. Adjust Consistency: For a creamier or more pourable icing, add more blueberry puree. For a thicker, pipe-able frosting suitable for decorating, add additional powdered sugar.
  6. Decorate and Store: Use the remaining fresh blueberries to decorate your cake or cupcakes as desired. Store the decorated desserts in the refrigerator until ready to serve to keep the frosting fresh. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Fresh Blueberry Frosting is light, creamy, and infused with natural blueberry flavor.
  • The frosting can be adjusted by adding more blueberry puree or powdered sugar to achieve your desired consistency.
  • Use fresh blueberries for the best flavor and color; frozen may alter texture.
  • Keep frosting refrigerated when not in use to maintain texture and freshness.
  • Suitable for decorating cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts.
